Why bulk indexing exists
Programmatic SEO, affiliate networks, and ecommerce sites generate hundreds or thousands of URLs. Submitting one URL at a time in Search Console is not viable. Bulk URL indexing is the workflow of preparing, submitting, and tracking large URL sets efficiently.
Step 1: Prepare your URL list
Before submitting, clean your list:
- Remove duplicates and trailing-slash variants
- Exclude noindex, blocked, or redirect-only URLs
- Prioritize money pages and new publishes first
- Export from CMS, sitemap, or crawl tools as CSV
Quality of the list determines index rate. Garbage in, garbage out.
Step 2: Submit in controlled batches
Recommended batch sizes:
| Domain type | Batch size | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| New domain | 50–100 | Monitor closely |
| Established site | 100–500 | Scale after baseline index rate |
| High-authority site | 500+ | Still track weekly |
Use IndexHub indexing service or API for batch submit. Learn all methods in How to submit URLs to Google.
Step 3: Track and iterate
Submission is half the job. Track outcomes with Bulk URL index checks or Check Index:
- Indexed vs not indexed vs pending
- Time-to-index per batch
- Patterns — are certain templates failing?
If index rate drops, pause scaling and fix content or internal links. See What to do when a URL is not indexed for troubleshooting.
Step 4: Automate at scale
For ongoing publishing, enable What is Auto Index? so new URLs enter the queue automatically. Keep sitemaps updated per Do sitemaps speed up indexing? guidance.

Credit optimization tips
- Submit highest-value URLs first
- Recheck only after 7–14 days — avoid wasting credits on premature rechecks
- Group URLs by template to identify systemic issues
- Export reports for client deliverables
Measuring bulk index success
Define KPIs before your first bulk campaign:
- Index rate: indexed URLs ÷ submitted URLs (target 60%+ for quality content)
- Time-to-index: median days from submit to indexed status
- Template index rate: index rate grouped by page type to find weak templates
- Credit efficiency: index rate per credit spent
Review these metrics weekly. If index rate drops below 40%, pause new submissions and audit content quality before scaling further. See What to do when a URL is not indexed for common fixes.
